Visiting The Odd Frog in Victoria

Through The Otis Foundation I was gifted a 4 night stay at The Odd Frog in Victoria in May 2025. If you have experienced breast cancer in the last 5 years you can apply for a break away, and I cannot overstate how excited I was to be given this opportunity after my cancer journey last year.
It was a beautiful surprise to find out about the retreat program and this break away was exactly what I needed.
The Odd Frog is focused on environmentally sustainable practices and has several studios built into the bush. We were very fortunate to get Studio 3 which had a beautiful view out over the valley.

It was late May, the air was crisp, the mornings misty, and there were still remnants of the yellow, orange, and red leaves dropping from the deciduous trees preparing for winter.

The studios have everything you need for a self-contained stay away, and the view from the bedroom out to the bush was a delight every day.

I thought everything about the studio was lovely, but my favourite locations were the balcony and the bath, both with private views of the bush.
I often think I'd like to have a bath and then rarely stay in one long, but I had two baths during my stay at The Odd Frog, and one of them was possibly the longest, and more enjoyable, bath I've ever had!

As a nature lover I was thrilled that there was an abundance of wildlife. I saw wild kangaroos at least 3 times during my stay and there were many species of beautiful birds.

Conveniently The Odd Frog is only a couple of minutes drive to the cafes and shops of Bright, where we tried and would recommend The Riverdeck Kitchen, and the Bright Brewery.
Although there are many options of things to see and do, I wanted this stay to be very much about resting and relaxing.
I only planned one day out for sightseeing activities and that didn't work as desired. We followed a sign to a local lookout that we couldn't find, then following Google's directions found ourselves well into a forest plantation on roads I don't believe were designed for public access. After a flat tyre (replaced with the car on an angle) and a fair degree of anxiety we finally made it back to a normal road.
Due to the unexpected 'adventure' above we only made it to Ladies Bath Falls, and Mackeys lookout. I definitely recommend visiting the falls but not if you have any issues re accessibility. It is only about 250 metres walk to the falls but it's up lots of stone stairs.

When I next have the opportunity to visit the Victorian High Country again, I would be very keen to include another stay at The Odd Frog. I cannot speak highly enough about the stay and the location if you like eco-conscious travel, nature, and need a genuine break away to re-set. 🐸
